Welcome to Affiliate Researcher, Dr Elena Eremeeva

Welcome to MOBIUS Affiliate Researcher, Dr Elena Eremeeva, La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science (LIMS) Innovation Fellow at La Trobe University and the School of Agriculture, Biomedicine and Environment.
Elena is a nucleic acid biochemist and biosensor scientist. Her work focuses on developing high-performing and diverse biorecognition elements: key components in sensors that allow them to detect target molecules – including environmental contaminants, drugs, health markers, and toxins.
Elena leads LIMS’ Aptamer Screening Facility, combining advanced SELEX technologies with next-generation sequencing and biophysical validation to enable rapid discovery of biorecognition elements tailored for real-world sensing.
“My goal is to bridge high-throughput aptamer discovery with scalable sensor integration, which could lead to rapid, sensitive, and portable detection platforms,” said Elena.
“I am looking forward to collaborating across the diverse disciplines within MOBIUS to accelerate the translation of aptamer-based sensors into practical applications for health, the environment, and bioindustrial processes.”
“I am most excited by the opportunity in MOBIUS to expand the molecular sensing landscape beyond what is currently measurable by integrating engineered recognition elements with advanced sensing technologies,” she said.
