ARC CEO Professor Ute Roessner spoke at MOBIUS’ launch
The ARC attended the official launch of the ARC Research Hub for Molecular Biosensors at Point-of-Use (MOBIUS) at La Trobe University on 15 August 2025.
MOBIUS is developing biosensors that can be used at the point of need, from mobile sensors that can help emergency workers identify biological threats in the field, to saliva-based devices for diagnosing disease without drawing blood. The aim is to develop affordable and accurate biosensors for use where and when needed, without sacrificing lab-quality results.
ARC Chief Executive Officer, Professor Ute Roessner, said MOBIUS will strengthen Australia’s capability to test at the point of need and will empower communities to make informed decisions in areas such as health, agriculture, and biosecurity.
